Multi-Inst. ISO Cool Music Friends

Meets

Description

Without any particular agenda in mind, I'm looking mostly for people who in one way or another get some joy out of the day-to-day work of their craft and might want to make music with someone like me. I moved here in 2020 and I still haven't met enough cool music friends. Some things that maybe you do: sing, write songs, play a horn, drums, bass, keys, have a band, rap, make electronic music, produce, compose, collect field recordings of unusual noises, host jams, go to open mics, hang out and enjoy listening to people create music. There are a wide range of things I'd be interested in at least giving a shot to see how it goes. I have a lot of great memories playing music, I'm just putting out an open-ended invitation to make some more. I have some more specific ideas about things we could do, but it depends a lot on who I hear from. About me: I've been gigging, usually on drums or bass, for about 20 years now (I'm 34), never as a full-time gig. Right now I play piano more than anything else, and I've been developing my jazz chops for a few years as a regular practice. I write some semblance of a song at least a few times a month, but I usually don't do anything with them I just like the daily practice of trying to create something. I also play guitar, and accordion, and I have some recording gear hooked up to Logic where I record and mix ideas all the time, from singer-songwriter style to hip-hop tracks to weird ambient music to practice tracks. I can play John Prine songs all day long. Party music of various styles is always the most fun to play live (second line, surf rock, etc.). Above all I like experimenting with playing different styles, coming up with new ways to put chords together and to put different sounds together. I'm pretty bad at finishing projects or being the main one to make things happen, but I am pretty good at running a practice and getting things done, and I have a lot of practice working up songs fast with little to no face-to-face practice time. Reach out if I've piqued your interest. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of responses I get out of this, I have no idea what to expect. I would even be interested in just hearing about your project even if you're not looking to collaborate. Maybe we'll play a show together someday or something. *I have some gigs and a busy work schedule this month so it may be fall before we can make anything actually happen.
