TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Multiple unconfirmed reports are indicating that Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will be named the next head coach for the University of Texas Longhorns, after it was announced that head coach Tom Herman had been relieved of his duties on Saturday. During his four seasons coaching the Longhorns, Herman went 32-18. The university has decided to make a coaching change in football. As a head coach, his career record is 46–35 and 2-2 in bowl games. While he was heavily pursued by the University of Colorado last season and even reportedly drew interest for the head coaching vacancy at Auburn, many in the Crimson Tide community viewed Sarkisian as the heir apparent to replace Tide coach Nick Saban when he inevitably retires. Sarkisian would lead the Tide from the sidelines on its way to a 42-13 victory over the Tigers, receiving praise from Saban and the Alabama faithful alike.
