One things is clear: Recruiters need to think in new ways to keep their organizations staffed and functioning. Our August chapter meeting will be a panel discussion with representatives from three organizations that can expand your recruitment pool. We will discuss if and how justice-impacted/second change, youth, and individuals with disabilities can become a vital part of your hiring and retention efforts. Learning Objectives -- Participants will be able to:Debunk myths associated with hiring outside the traditional candidate poolImplement the benefits of a diverse workforce with new recruitment strategies*This program is pending for 1.0 PDCs toward SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification.* *1.0 Business Credit pending through HRCI.* About the Speakers:Ty Reed has been a featured speaker and presenter for many organizations, including Amazon, Comcast, and the University of Washington. His blend of humor and valuable information for HR professionals has made him a popular choice for companies interested in learning about building more inclusive hiring practices and improving relations with current employees. In 2020, Ty founded Recovery Career Services, a nonprofit focused on career coaching for people in recovery from addiction, homelessness, and past criminal justice involvement. He holds an MBA, a PHR, and a Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) designation. Michele Hernandez is an Assistant Program Manager with Trillium Employment Services. I graduated from the University of Washington and reside in Pierce county. I am dedicated to the mission of supporting adults of all abilities find meaningful and competitive jobs. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of community and will continue to work on equity on social justice issues for the people I serve. Kari Haugen is the Director of WorkForce Partnerships at WorkForce Center in Tacoma. In this role, she bridges the gap between job seekers, employers, and community organizations to build a robust workforce pipeline and ensure economic vitality across the region.
