VCR Repair Needed

I have a brand new Magnavox unit that was purchased online several years ago and was never used. The warranty had expired before it was used. It is supposed to record the video from the cassette onto DVD, however when the tape is inserted into the unit, it goes in crooked and the tape gets eaten. Looking for someone that has experience and knows how to repair and make adjustments to them. Need an estimate on the repair, Thank You!
