Hi there! My name is Hannah, and I’ve recently moved to North Asheville from California, where I worked as a caregiver, nanny, artist, and coach. I’m focusing mainly on coaching now, but…I just love spending time with children. I have a 7-year old daughter who is home schooled and will come with me sometimes to my nanny / babysitting jobs. Other times she’ll be with her dad, at activities, or playdates. She loves to be helpful and can also be self-contained / self-entertained when my attention is needed elsewhere. In California, I worked as a nanny for a family with three kids, ages 6-12, as well as for a family with twin babies, from the time they were 5 months to 9 months at the time when I moved away. My daughter was great in these environments. Also, these families are happy to be contacted as references. My ideal situation would be working between 5 and 15 hours a week to supplement my other income and add a fun dash of being around more kids to my routine. My hours are flexible now, although once we pick a schedule it would be helpful to stick with it, because I will be scheduling clients around that time. I have a lovely big car (Toyota Highlander 2010) with 3 rows of seats, and I’m happy to help with transportation. I love to cook, tidy up, and take care of the home when time permits. I also am a teaching artist who has done kids camps, art classes and worked in school classrooms, so I have a jillion activities up my sleeve appropriate for every age. I practice gentle, compassionate communication and the book “How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen” is a huge influence in my parenting and childcare work. From that book, I learned to not use punishment; rather, I model and teach emotional regulation and collaborative problem solving. It’s highly important to me to not shame children for their feelings or behavior, while also maintaining a safe environment. I’m capable of communicating clear, firm boundaries in a kind way. As a coach, I teach emotional empowerment skills, and I love to share that in age-appropriate ways with children, as well. My rate is $30/hour.
