Join Peerless Rockville in-person at the Glenview Mansion Speaker Series as we welcome the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department for a presentation on their century of service to the City of Rockville. Learn how a fire that threatened downtown Rockville in 1921 birthed the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department. Hear the history of this organization as it grew from 51 Volunteer Members to 320 Volunteer Members and 123 Career Members today, from a single station to four stations, and from responding to fewer than 100 emergency calls a year to over 22,000 calls a year in 2021.
View a display of pictures of Fire / Rescue calls and the apparatus of the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department, including a 1963 Mack Pumper.
If any of this inspires you, learn what it takes to become a member of the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department as EMS, Firefighter or Administrative Member.
Peerless Rockville Historic Preservation Ltd. is supported in part by a grant from the City of Rockville and funding from the Montgomery County Government and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County.
