Description

Tour times:  5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m. & 8:15 p.m. Talking to the dead, ghost sightings, and spiritualism were pervasive in 19th century America, and will be unearthed, once again, at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum with the riveting and chilling program, “Ghosts, Seances & the Great Beyond: Halloween Tours at the Mansion.” In the Victorian era, most people believed it was possible to communicate with the dead, and consulting with mediums was part of a mourning ritual as well as a coping mechanism that even titans of industry, political leaders, and renowned scientists were known to explore, including Cornelius Vanderbilt, Queen Victoria, and Thomas Edison. The Mansion will open its doors to these ghosts of the past, and share stories that will thrill visitors of all ages. Beware of bumping into ghosts walking through the Mansion's Period Room walls, as they see no obstacles, especially on Halloween. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. --------------------------------------- Photo courtesy of Gus Apazidis
