Environmental Justice Day is one of the ways that Sol Nation highlights the importance of the intersections of environmental justice and social justice issues. We know that housing, gender and racial equity, faith, education, housing, the arts, and so many other issues have an environmental justice lens that is rarely part of the conversation. And quite frankly, Black people, in particular, cannot afford only partial conversations about changing our material conditions holistically. The festivities for EJ Day will take place over a couple days: Sol Nation will be holding the main celebration on Saturday, August 27th at West Complex CLT from 5pm - 9pm. Mayor Vi Lyles will officially declare Environmental Justice Day, and Sol Nation will host a press conference regarding the proclamation Monday, August 29th.
