Learn the fundamentals behind artistic skating spins & jumps. We will warm up with some flow moves then go over the basic heel-toe spin, 1 foot spins and half turn jumps. The class will be taught for mixed levels, so you can join whether it is your first day spinning or you are coming to refine technique! What is Artistic Skating: Artistic roller skating is a sport similar to figure ice skating but where competitors wear roller skates instead of ice skates. Within artistic roller skating, there are several disciplines: figures, freestyle, and dance. Artistic roller skating can be a seriously competitive sport, and world championships are held all over the globe, from Australia to the United States to Colombia. But in a nutshell, artistic skating is graceful technique and style on wheels! About the instructor: Jackie is a three-time World Championship team member representing the US in Artistic Roller Skating (2005, Rome, Italy, 2009 Freiburg, Germany, 2010, Portimao, Portugal), worked professionally on wheels from LA to Paris and now runs Ignite On Wheels Entertainment, an Austin, TX based roller skating company that provides entertainment on wheels along with skating-education services through the School of Skating.
