My name is Caroline Colarusso, and I am running for Congress challenging Congresswoman Katherine Clark this November. I'm urging every commonsense voter in the 5th Congressional District to contact Congresswoman Clark's office and ask her to break ties with Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and vote AGAINST the misnamed "Inflation Reduction Act". This bill will worsen the recession we are already in by raising taxes by $750 billion averaging $4500 in tax increases per American household over the next decade. This bill does little to nothing to curb inflation and adds 87,000 IRS agents for the purposes of "tax enforcement and compliance." If passed and signed into law, this bill will: Weaponize the IRS by adding 87,000 new agents to go after small business owners and middle-class filers. While the Democrats like to talk about going after billionaires, there are only a handful of them, and they don't need 87,000 IRS agents to audit a few billionaires. So, the new IRS agents will be targeting middle class taxpayers. The bill spends over $450 billion on Green New Deal energy initiatives which will further increase our already high energy bills. The bill increases taxes on corporations, particularly manufacturers. America is already dangerously reliant on countries like China for manufacturing. This bill will hurt current and future manufacturers, thus making our country more reliant on foreign enemies. Remember the mask shortage during the beginning of COVID, it was China that had the masks, not the United States. Under the guise of offering lower prescription costs to seniors by forcing rebates to Medicare, drug companies will likely raise prices to non-Medicare patients. Additionally, these price controls will likely result in less research and development, and as a result less desperately needed new life saving drugs. That's bad news for everybody. We are already too reliant on China for pharmaceuticals. American families need government to help at this time, not more IRS agents to intimidate them. Members of Congress should NOT be adding to the economic stress of families. Americans already pay $4.1 trillion each year to the IRS. Instead of further burdening Americans during a recession, Congress should be prioritizing by strengthening our military which is grossly understaffed suffering from all-time lows in recruitment. This is a national security concern that Congresswoman Clark should consider. This particularly poses a serious threat to the United States, considering the increased aggression and hostility displayed around the world encouraged by President Biden's weak foreign policy. While Congress is filled with progressives who are happy to raise taxes, it should be noted that not one Republican Senator voted for this bill, signaling its danger and their collective opposition to raising taxes during a recession, and weaponizing the Internal Revenue Service. This bill shrinks the American economy and will not stimulate economic growth and innovation here at home. It will lead to more poverty. Today Friday, August 12th, Congresswoman Clark and other members of the U.S. House of Representatives are scheduled to vote on the ludicrously misnamed Inflation Reduction Act.Please flood the lines at the Capitol Hill Switchboard by calling (202) 224-3121 or email Congresswoman Clark by clicking here [email protected] tell Congresswoman Clark to say NO to 87,000 additional IRS agents and vote against the misnamed "Inflation Reduction Act."To learn more about my campaign please go to ColarussoforCongress.com
