Rockland windjammer in search of a deckhand for the last half of our summer sailing season. Our 120 ft. long schooner was built in 1927. We can accommodate up to 24 guests on 3 to 6 day excursions around the mid-coast of Maine. Traditional sailing experience is a plus, but not necessary to apply. The ideal candidate should also enjoy a good days work and being outside. They should enjoy being with our guests, who range in age from kids to seniors, and come to us from all over the country. Friendly fun interaction and meaningful conversation with our guests is always encouraged. Our deckhands also participate in the sailing, maneuvering, and maintenance of the ship.Maintenance includes keeping a high standard of cleanliness onboard, as well as handling of sails and dock lines and other routine maintenance. The Position starts August 22nd and runs through the end of October. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain sea time on a traditional sailing ship or someone looking to break into the maritime industry. Salary is $325 per week plus $75- $100 a day in tips. Room and board on the ship is included.
