You read, improvise and are looking for something "different." You do not have to be GREAT but please be competent and bring open ears/mind. This is a unique concept with plenty of opportunities to explore your instrument but, please, no noodling for the sake of noodling. As any pro will tell you, it's a lot harder to lay back and be a part of a gumbo then to just bring your noodles.
