JOB TITLE: GROUNDSKEEPER DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES & GROUNDS SALARY RANGE: $15.60 PER HOUR FLSA: NON-EXEMPT IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Grounds Supervisor SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time (subject to emergency call-in)/12 month position/PEERS Position Summary The Groundskeeper is responsible for the care of the lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers. Other major responsibilities include treating and removing the ice and snow on sidewalks, entrances, steps and parking lots, as well as the care and maintenance of equipment to carry out these tasks and all other duties as assigned. The essential functions of this position require a physical presence onsite. Essential Job Duties Mow and trim lawns in assigned areas. Lawn maintenance, such as reseeding and weed control in assigned areas. Apply chemical feeding and pest control. Perform landscaping duties. Remove ice and snow from walk ways, steps and parking areas. Keeps campus area, building entries, parking lots and lawns free of trash and debris. Perform bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, kneeling, and reaching both to ground and overhead on a daily basis. Report and correct safety hazards. Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality. Comply with college policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, including serving on committees and attending community events. Non-Essential Job Duties Provide routine care and maintenance for mowing equipment, trimmers, saws and hand tools. Properly dispose of hazardous chemicals or waste. Properly store and inventory supplies with in assigned areas and notifies supervisor of deficiencies. Develop procedures for inventory control, notes discrepancies and turn in all packing slips. Attend employee in-service programs to improve work performance. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. Ability to push and pull up to 150 lbs. Valid driver’s license. Ability to document and maintain appropriate records, logs and reports. Ability to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite). Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Two years of experience as a groundskeeper. National Career Readiness Certificate. Experience with Colleague. Experience working within a collegiate setting.
