Description
hello! i am rehoming my dog shark because i've realized i can't give him the care and attention he needs while i take care of my own health. shark is vaccinated, neutered, and chipped. he turned 1 year in june, is apx 55lbs, and is a husky/malamute/german shepherd mix. shark is playful, energetic, and super smart. he knows some basic commands (sit, down, leave it, shake) but could always use more training.
the ideal home for shark would be in a house with a fenced yard. he sleeps peacefully in his crate through the night, but there will be an adjustment period and he will cry, which is why i don't think an apartment would work for him. he should not live with cats or other small animals, but he loves other medium or larger sized dogs. he can be too much for smaller dogs, but there are plenty of smaller dogs who have run circles around him too, so it just depends on their personality. he can be shy around new people, but adores the ones he knows. he likes kids, but is often too much for very young kids, like under 10 or so.
unfortunately, shark does have a biting history. he injured another dog in may. it was a superficial injury, but it happened. he had never shown aggression toward another dog before and hasn't since, not even so much as resource guarding.
shark can be nervous in new situations. if something is too much for him, his default is to run and hide, but it doesn't take him long to get used to new environments.
he enjoys going to the vet & groomer. he is easy to handle, as in you can clip his nails or brush his teeth or pick him up and carry him around. not a lot bothers him.
in lieu of a rehoming fee, i ask that you make a donation of 75 to an animal welfare organization in the pnw instead.
if you're interested in meeting shark or would like more info, shoot me an e-mail!
