Description
The recorder -- the instrument I have mastered and played for decades with a multitude of fine musicians in many locales in the world -- is an ancient instrument rarely used in anything other than classical Baroque and Renaissance consorts... but it is capable of so much more! I am here in central Phoenix now and want to connect with other talented musicians who love to jam. I play soprano, alto, tenor and bass recorders, as well as keyboard, guitar, blues harp and percussion. I perform improvisations both solo and with first-rate musicians in all sorts of styles, from classical and folk to hip-hop and blues to meditation and chanting. I play by ear; my self-training started long ago in the Andes of South America where I picked up Quechua tunes on a plastic recorder. I've been playing fine wooden recorders ever since, most recently with an ensemble of extraordinary musicians in Stockton, California. Here now in Phoenix, I hope to replicate that vibe. I want to join or help create a cohesive musical community of improvisers in Phoenix. I welcome all sorts of instruments, from hang drums and mandolins to keyboards and guitars, wind instruments and of course percussion. Didgeridoos are nice too. Want to get together to jam? Please give me a call and let's set something up.
