Last Counterplay Band needs a bassist! We’ve been working as a three-piece since losing our previous bassist last year, with our rhythm guitarist/keyboardist filling in on bass, but we sure miss that nice full sound.
Here we are as a four-piece playing an up-tempo number: https://fb.watch/eQUU4qF8tB/. And here’s a ballad, with piano: https://fb.watch/eQV08i-ctW/.
We cover blues, country, and rock from the golden age of the ’50s through the ’90s. We perform in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho once or twice a month, usually three 45-minute sets, give or take. We typically get together to rehearse in advance of gigs or when we’re learning new material. We don’t tend to rehearse on a regular schedule, although once you’re on board, we’ll definitely do so at least until you’re up to speed.
We’re all sane, responsible adults (our youngest member is 49) with normal lives and jobs, and we’re all doing this part-time for fun, not to get rich and certainly not famous. If it’s your goal to play out every night, end up on tour supporting a major act, and buy a second home, this isn’t the gig for you. (Likewise if you were an L.A. session ace back in the ’70s and you filled in for Timothy Schmit on tour with the Eagles for a year, but for some reason you now live in Albuquerque, in a van down by the river, we might not be a match.) If you’d like to just get together with some friendly folks who enjoy playing good music and entertaining pub-goers, get in touch! (Especially if you can sing.)
