My husband and I were appalled to learn the Joplin Sr. Center Mgr. was terminated this week. Rumors abound, but it seems she was let go for an unjustified reason. We grew to love the Mgr. We loved it when she was boisterous because that is WHY we come to the Senior Center. We come for stimulation and a delicious lunch. She did more for we seniors in the few months she was there, than had been done in years past. Prior mgrs. were, sweet, kind and caring, but rarely did they bring in new and interesting activities like she did. And they could rarely make us laugh like M did, every day. She worked very hard, she gave it her best. That was a very mean thing to do. A majority of the regular Seniors are upset over this situation and majority of us think it was unfair and unkind. We want to bring public attention to this unfortunate predicament. A bunch of us are meeting after church to plan ways to bring focus to this cruel and harsh treatment of a really sweet person. Reaching out to local TV, a petition and possibly a boycott will be discussed. It's not right what you did. My husband and I ran a small business for 22 years. Good advice to think about before you fire an employee is to ask yourself this question: "Is it a discipline problem or a training issue?". When an employee fails a part of that failure rests on your shoulders. You probably could have done more, and you didn't.
