Description
Hello!
I am an experienced professional musician and music teacher. Due to the pandemic, the music store I have taught through since 2015 is closed and I have some space in my lesson schedule.
A little about me- I'm 36, have BFA and MFA degrees from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), play in many local bands in all different styles - Jazz, rock, free improvisation and avant-garde, world music styles etc. In 2018 my quartet toured Nepal for Jazzmandu: The Kathmandu Jazz Festival and last month I curated a month of jazz Mondays at my favorite music venue, Icehouse.
I have helped many 5th-12th grade students learn to read music and proper technique, music theory and improvisation. I've helped many students successfully audition for honor bands, upper level bands and jazz band. Additionally I have experience with adult students and tailoring lessons towards specific goals and interests. I play and teach Baritone, Tenor, Alto and Soprano saxophones, Clarinet and Bass Clarinet.
I'm based in the arts district of NE Minneapolis. Lessons are mostly online but sometimes in-person is possible too. Feel free to send me any questions!
