Who we are: Landscape Alaska has been the go to business in Juneau for landscape design, installation, and maintenance for 30 years. Known for a high quality of work and expertise regarding which plants survive and which plants thrive in Southeast Alaska, our small family business has worked on landscapes as high profile as the State Library Archives & Museum project and the Capitol Building in downtown Juneau, to as specific and tailored as personal raised vegetable gardens. There isn’t a neighborhood in Juneau where you won’t find our work on display. The Position: We are looking to hire 3 experienced laborers to work as part of our crew maintaining and installing landscapes throughout Juneau and Douglas. Working closely with the landscape architect and owner, Margaret Tharp, and horticulturist, David Lendrum, our crew transports plants, planting materials, tools, and landscape care machines such as lawn mowers and weed whackers from our business on back loop road to properties all over the Juneau-Douglas area to install, clean, and maintain those properties. We work in all of the weather that Southeast has to offer, from heavy rain to hot sunshine, carrying, lifting, digging, pushing, and pulling light to heavy loads as a team. Landscape Alaska, in particular, is known for detailed work maintaining the aesthetics of a completed landscape, keeping our work tidy and organized. Hours: 25-35 hrs a week, depending on jobs Seasonal: Work ends around Thanksgiving, weather depending, and starts again in March. Lunch: 30 minutes, unpaid. Applicants should be able to: Perform rigorous, physical, outdoor labor for 6 to 8 hours with a 30 minute lunch; Follow detailed, multi-step verbal instructions; Work with motorized tools such as weed whackers, edgers, lawnmowers, and chainsaws; Work as part of a small team; Lift, pull, push, carry 50 lbs repetitively; Arrive appropriately dressed in appropriate boots, work pants, jackets, etc as required per weather and job. Safety equipment (eye protection, ear protection, etc) provided by Landscape Alaska. Pay And Schedule: Part and full-time work available. Start at $20/hour, bumping up to $25/hour after 2 weeks if proven reliable. Flexible scheduling available, generally operating Monday-Saturday from 8am to3pm, varying depending on project and weather.
