1 1/4 year old German Shepherd needs a new home

Description

I have a 1 1/4 year old German Shepherd cross that I need to find a new home for immediately. We are currently on a road trip in the Pacific County area until the 15th and will be in the greater Seattle / Tacoma area for a few days after that. Right now he has another dog companion and would do well with another dog that likes to play rough. His companion is not up for adoption. He is just too much for me to handle and will need someone who is very patient, active and willing to work on training with him. I will give him up to the right people including a foster family who will take care of him. He was a stray on a native American reservation and that is where he was rescued from. I've had him for 5 months and he is still combating me to be the alpha of the pack. He is very high energy, very strong and is highly prey driven. He does good with dogs he knows well but is aggressive towards dogs that he doesn't know. He plays rough with other dogs and can be a little overwhelming, dog parks are not recommended. He is good with people but he is a jumper and will knock over kids easily. He needs to be trained and can be a good listener but can be stubborn when you are trying to teach him as well. I guess he just needs the right person to establish the alpha status right away. Some bad habits are aggressiveness towards dogs, is a food protector, is a jumper, a leash puller, a digger, he will stick his nose directly in your crotch and butt, and reluctant to listen without treats in play. He is also an escape artist and I have switched to a limited slip collar due to this. I bought 3 different harnesses for him and he could escape from all of them therefore the switch. He is food motivated, has a healthy appetite and eats approximately 2 1/2 cups of food twice a day. I'm currently feeding him Rachel Ray food that's available at Walmart which he likes a lot. He lives for treats. He likes toys and loves for someone to play with him be it a dog or human. Compatibility with cats and other small animals is unknown. He likes to chew on toys and stuff including sticks and pine cones (which I cannot seem to break him of) and will play tug of war when he is interested. He will chase a ball but I can't get him to bring it back. I never had any problems with him chewing on furniture before we left for our trip and he hasn't been destructive to my vehicle when I leave him in it. Asking for a small re-homing fee of $70 to cover the cost of some provided items (negotiable). I am including some toys he likes, his dog bed (sorry it's a little dirty and got wet recently but can be cleaned), a food bowl, and a leash and his collar. If you are interested in this magnificent beast and are looking for a dog that will be a great companion to the right person(s) please contact Tom via the contacts provided by Craigslist. Thanks for looking!
