Tortoise Industries is hiring a powder coater with experience with powder application. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, however, other duties may apply.) • Prepare parts for coating • Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects • Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometers • Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations • Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with the company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance • Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout the facility • Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment • Load and unload parts or products onto fixtures • Good knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment • Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment LANGUAGE SKILLS Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner QUALIFICATIONS • To perform this job an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily • Strong background in powder coating and industrial painting preffered • Strong attention to detail • Able to work in a fast pace environment • Demonstrate ability to work independently without daily supervision PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to move or transfer products onto the converyor. Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The temperature in the work environment is not regulated. Required Education and Experience Knowledge of methods and techniques related to painting in specialized areas and work environments. Methods and techniques related to the safe use, storage, and disposal of paint and cleaning products, chemicals, and safe cleanup techniques and practices. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, some days it will be 6 am-2:30 pm.
