Description

Try This WV is excited to facilitate this free Kanawha Valley Meeting + Farm Tour at New Roots Community Farm! Come ready to network, dream big, eat some delicious locally-made food, and take a gentle hike as we continue the conversation in nature. Open to all and free to attend, but space is limited so register today. Try This WV is a healthy-community non-profit aimed at knocking off the worst health lists by increasing access to physical activity and healthy food. Through minigrant projects, Try This supports grassroots community teams making a difference in their local communities - and one of those awesome project partners has been our friends at New Roots Community Farm. Our tour guide, Gabe Peña, has been a long-time believer in the power of positive growth in his community. These days he's joined an awesome team to help grow, quite literally, the future of New Roots Community Farm. Amongst a long list of other valuable roles in the area, Gabe is serving as co-director to ensure the farm can be a model for how health-focused, collaborative efforts can meet the social and economic needs of the community. These stories are exactly what Try This hopes to plant the seeds for at this event. Are you part of a local organization, business, or government entity that wants to see more healthy opportunities for your family, friends, and neighbors? Are you an individual hoping to see someone help make your healthy project dream a reality? Are you a healthcare professional eager to see your patients have the opportunity to improve their health through activity and a healthier diet they can get right in their own community? Then this meeting is for you! We will spend time learning about Try This, what's already going on in the Kanawha Valley Region, and what folks want to see happen now and in the future.
