Description

We'd like to invite you to join us in a Community Dinner on Monday, August 15th where youth, parents, community organizations, and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids will come together to share a meal and dialogue over tobacco use and its impact on the community. This Community Dinner, held at Han Oak, will kick off our two-day youth training program in Portland as part of the Take Down Tobacco Youth Advocacy Tour, where youth will learn skills to take on the tobacco industry and fight for social and health justice. During this dinner, guests will partake in a screening of the highly acclaimed Black Lives/Black Lungs, a short film documenting Big Tobacco's decades-long campaign to transform menthol into a "Black" cigarette. Following the screening, we will host a discussion on the impacts of flavored tobacco use in communities most impacted by Big Tobacco's marketing and manipulation -- Black, Indigenous, Hispanic/Latino (Latinx), LGBTQ+ community groups, etc. Guest will be encouraged to share perspectives of the impact in their own communities, schools, and families. The dinner is free of charge, and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids will cover costs associated with attending. We hope you can join us! Please RSVP by Saturday, August 13th.
