Join the YMCA-ECRN+ and Metro Parks for our annual Happy Hikers Club! This month we will take a hike through the Walter Tucker Nature Preserve as we talk about the importance of trees in our lives. We’ll learn to identify a few common ones and look for the animals that live in the forest. WHEN Saturday, August 27th WHO All ages and abilities are welcome! Ability to walk on a dirt and grass trail and move about in the natural play area where there will be fallen branches/logs and uneven terrain. Play games, dig in the dirt, search for bugs and build forts as we stop at the natural play area along our .5-mile hike on the Evergreen Trail. The trail is flat but made up of grass, dirt, and a boardwalk. WHERE Three Creeks Park - Confluence Trails Area and Natural Play Area 3860 Bixby Rd., Groveport, OH 43125 From I-270, take US 33 east towards Lancaster about 1 mile. Turn right on Hamilton Rd and go about 1.25 miles to Bixby Rd and turn right. The entrance is about 0.75 miles on the right. The Confluence Trails Area parking lot is the 2nd parking lot. You will see a large shelter close to the lot. NOTES Parents/Guardians must stay with their child at all times. We encourage family participation!In the event of inclement weather, the outing will be canceled and rescheduled. Registration IS REQUIRED and space is limited. Please reserve a ticket for every person that will be attending (including parents.) Register today to reserve your spot!REMINDERS Bring a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, bottled water. Play clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Tennis shoes, hiking shoes, or similar. Flip-flops or crocs are not recommended for the natural play area or trail hiking.
