Description

This workshop is a comprehensive in-person, hands-on studio lighting course designed to teach you how to use professional lighting equipment for portraiture. Are you a photographer who only photographs in natural light and wants to learn about studio lighting? Are you new to studio lighting and want to learn how to improve your skills? This workshop is for you. This workshop will focus on studio lighting for portraits and will equip you with skills and experience so you can create your own studio portraits. The techniques you will learn can be used for headshots, families, kids, musicians, models, and anyone you might need to photograph in a studio. This workshop includes understanding the difference between continuous light and flash, speed lights, strobes, triggers, and modeling light versus flash. The workshop will also include the use of various light modifiers, including softboxes, octoboxes, beauty dishes, bard doors, gels, reflectors, umbrellas, snoots, and honeycombs. You will need a digital SLR or digital mirrorless camera with a flash or hot shoe and manual mode and know how to set ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. In addition to learning about lighting, there will be lots of opportunities for you to shoot during the workshop, and you can use the images in your portfolio. The two-hour workshop will be offered at my studio at 33 Elk Street, Suite 101, Albany, NY 12207. There is plenty of free on-street parking at the studio. In-studio images of Astrid published in the Paris fashion magazine Roidx.
