Laugh, learn, and get inspired by a mix of people from Providence as they share their ideas, stories, and creations using the PechaKucha format of 20 images that last 20 seconds each. Named best event in Rhode Island by RI Monthly! This Month's Theme: Person-alityThis month's PechaKucha is a first! Instead of our standard open call for the community, we have a specially invited lineup consisting of Providence Mayoral and Rhode Island Gubernatorial candidates. But just like every other presenter that steps behind the mic, they aren't allowed to talk politics. Doors open at 7:20pm and presentations kick off at 8:20pm. Parking: Parking is available across downtown, and public transportation is encouraged! Seating: We've got seating, but it doesn't hurt to bring your favorite chair or a blanket just in case. Food and Beverages: Trinity Brewhouse will have beverages flowing and Haven Brothers is just across the street. Restrooms: Restrooms are available inside the skating center. Covid Stuff: We're back outdoors so you'll have lots of fresh air and plenty of room to keep a safe distance. PechaKucha Providence is built and sustained by our community. What is PechaKucha?If you haven't heard of this global yet unpronounceable phenomenon, PechaKucha is a monthly format for sharing ideas in which presenters are allotted 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Simply put: it's 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell for grown-ups. It began in Tokyo in 2003, has since spread to over 1,200 cities worldwide, and first landed in Providence in March of 2009. To the best of our knowledge, Providence is the only chapter in the entire world that hosts a PechaKucha Night every month of the year.
