Any time you spend in learning and exploring these concepts, will pay you back magnificently, both now and long into the future! What should we understand about the melody of a song? What is the importance of the bass notes? Why should we learn to sing sometimes with our instrument? Why are chord inversions so important to an advancing musician? Understanding how music works will greatly improve your songwriting and improvisational skills, and your ability to collaborate and perform with other musicians. You don't even have to know how to read music to benefit from what I have to show you. Music theory is for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players of all ages. Major & minor keys, the circle of fifths, chord suspensions, extensions, and progressions—it all can make sense if you take the time to explore it. You will be amazed as we demystify the complexities of music by completely exploring the basics! We can start right at the beginning, or you can bring me your musical problems and questions, and we can take it from there. My name is O. Smith, and I'm a former Sony Music recording artist with over 25 years of piano/keyboard experience. I charge $45/hour, and $25 for a 30min lesson.
