6 month old Great Pyrenees

Description

We have a 6 month old male Great Pyrenees that we need to re-home. On his own, he is calm and the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. With other pets, he becomes food aggressive and resource guards. He is also very pushy with humans who are cooking or eating food (he will bark nonstop at you, shove himself between you and the stove). We have other pets and honestly don’t have the time to try to train and manage these issues. Most importantly, we have a special needs child who simply cannot understand not to grab the dog toys or occasionally finds it funny to feed a dog (knowing he’s not supposed to), so this has become a safety issue. We think that as an only pet, or a working dog on a farm, he would be completely fine. When we separate the dogs, he is calm and well behaved. He does fairly well on a leash. He’s currently 56 pounds and will get much bigger. He greets other animals well in public, but he does play a bit rough (he’s huge). He seems to love all humans he meets. We have checked with local rescues and humane societies. Because he has issues with other animals (food aggression and resource guarding), they’ve informed us they most likely would not be able to place him because most people have other pets in the home. We don’t want to see this sweet boy euthanized when he has the potential to be a fabulous only pet. Small rehoming fee to ensure a good home. Please email for more details.
