Description
We're into funky, psychedelic grooves and aim to blend funk, rock, jazz, and other styles into something familiar yet new. Bands like Khruangbin, The Meters, The Budos band, Lettuce, Tom Bukovac, Heliocentrics, Club D’elf are decent examples of predominantly instrumental "groove" styles that we dig. We've got a bunch of recording gear and know how to use it. We're primarily looking to write more songs and make some good recordings of original music. We're older (all around 50) and aren't trying to rush this act to the stage.
The right player for us is comfortable playing in multiple styles and genres, has great rhythm, can play melodic tasteful leads, knows enough theory to be dangerous, can take a simple idea and make it interesting, can play smoothly in odd time signatures, and knows how to effectively contribute and collaborate in a group setting. Any instrument is cool, though something that can produce chords as well as melodies would be ideal to fill out our arrangements. The core now is drums, bass, and guitar, but the latter 2 can switch- we’d love to find someone with some keyboard ability, but we're also open to a bassist if the right one comes along. Reeds/winds? Brass? With effects? Yummm….We're not anti-chops but we're not looking for a shredder. A singer could work, but right now we're not focused on lyrical content or formatting our songs to it. Our music isn't highly technical but it does require some skill and concentration.
We have samples of our songs you can hear in exchange for your audio/video samples, description of yourself: instrument(s)/style/taste/experience/etc, your availability, maybe your name… the basic stuff.
