Are you interested in becoming an Outdoor Educator?
ReTribe in Underhill, Vermont was recently awarded a grant to develop a program for adults to gain skills and confidence in teaching outdoors. In EarthGuides: Outdoor Educator Training, participants will train in a variety of outdoor education and social emotional skills and put them into practice at ReTribe's Forest School and/or Afterschool programs. Thanks to the grant, this training is free for participants.
This program runs from September 2022 - May 2023 with a break over Winter.
Fall Semester: September 12 - December 16, 2022
Spring Semester: February 27 - May 26, 2023
Topics covered will include CPR and first aid; nonviolent communication and conflict resolution; diversity, equity, and inclusion; naturalist skills; fire by friction and other fire skills; crafting techniques including basket making and fiber arts; storytelling and song leading, and much more.
Train as a group on Mondays 10:30 am - 2:30 pm in Underhill
Practice what you learn in the field with Forest School mentors once/week (choose 1 day):
Wed 8:30-3:30 in Underhill
Thurs 8:30-3:00 in Underhill
Fri 8:30-3:30 in Richmond
There is also an option for paid work at our Afterschool program in Underhill on Mondays and/or Thursdays from 3-5:45pm.
