Description

- We are Pop Rock Cover band (called Total Zeros) based in Northern NJ (rehearsal mostly in Dover, sometimes rehearsal in Woodland Park/Totowa). We play 2000s, 90s, 80s pop rock covers at restaurants, bars, breweries, town festivals, and private parties all around Northern New Jersey, sometimes farther if the pay is worth it. We usually play about 2 or 3 gigs per month. We are all adults (mid 30s to early 40s) with day jobs & family life. - We play the usual bar band repertoire as needed, but really enjoy 2000s ad 90s mainstream Top40 hits. It's the stuff that partygoers and restaurant customers enjoy, dance to, and pay to listen... so we play it. - Current lineup is male vocalist, female vocalist, guitarist, bassist, drummer. - WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PIANO/KEYBOARD PLAYER to eventually expand into Weddings and Higher Paying Corporate Events. YOU MUST: 1. Be able to comp pop piano rhythms and chords (ie. Don't Stop Believing by Journey, Rocket Man by Elton John, Piano Man by Billy Joel). Have basic to intermediate knowledge of pop song structure (Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge) and chord progressions (I V vi IV, etc) and chord structure (know what is a Major chord, Minor chord, major scale, minor scale, pentatonic scale). Be able to play basic to intermediate synth lead lines (ie. Blinding Lights by The Weeknd, Jump by Van Halen, Final Countdown by Europe, or many other 80s synth songs, etc). We're not asking you to play Beethoven classical music. Just need to be able to play pop piano songs and understand some music theory. 2. Own your own equipment (piano/keyboard/synth) that is reliable. 3. Have your own reliable transportation 4. Be available to rehearse about once a month. 5. Be punctual (on time) and prepared (know all the songs, and previously self-practiced the songs) for rehearsals and gigs. 6. NO drug-addicts, alcoholics, drama queens, egomaniacs, gear snobs. Just be chill and enjoy the music. We're playing local bars and restaurants. We're not playing Madison Square Garden or Lincoln Center. 7. Ideal gear setup would be two 49 or 61-key keyboards on a 2-tier stand. Don't need anything fancy like a $3,000 Nord. Just a $200 Casio and/or a $500 Yamaha MX49 would do great. In the end, it's your choice on the gear; but try to keep it small footprint and easy to setup/breakdown because most venues have small stage areas (bars, restaurants, breweries). Just have reliable gear that you know how to use. YOU SHOULD: 1. Be in the age range of approximately 30-40 years old. 2. Don't expect this to be your main source of income. 3. Backup vocals a plus, but not needed. 4. Prior experience playing in a band is a plus, but not needed. 5. Be a chill and friendly person. DO NOT reply if: 1. You are a complete beginner / novice at music (ie. cannot play piano parts to The Scientist by Coldplay). 2. You do not understand any music theory at all (ie. don't know that a major chord include notes 1,3,5) 3. You do not enjoy playing 2000s, 90s, 80s pop music.
