JOB SUMMARY: Under immediate supervision, performs semiskilled work in operating a variety of general mowing, tractors, trucks, and other equipment in the production and maintenance of groves owned, leased, and maintained by the company. This is non-supervisory position reporting to assigned Grove Production Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Operates any of the following types of equipment: trucks, tractors, sprayers, mowers, pruning machines, shredders, and related equipment to maintain groves. 2. Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment daily, and adjusts and takes corrective action if necessary. 3. Oils and greases fittings on equipment following set standards. 4. Under direction of manager, prepares spraying equipment daily by loading appropriate amount of materials for day’s operation. 5. Adjusts mowers and tractor speeds, when necessary, to achieve best cut possible. 6. Prunes trees, stacks brush, pulls vines and weeds. 7. Prepares trees for grafting seasonally under close supervision of manager. 8. Keeps track of tools, radios and other supplies required to accomplish job; return disbursed items for daily use to chemical room; and replace any equipment signed for and not returned. 9. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. 10. Operates equipment safely to prevent damage to any grove owner’s property including irrigation lines and trees. 11. Complies with safety procedures and reports any accident or incident immediately to any supervisor.
