Jacumba water district is seeking a person that is responsible, self-motivated and has a positive attitude preferably with experience working at a water company, but not required depending on work experience for a part- time Field Assistance position. OPERATOR DUTIES • Perform heavy physical labor and many routine manual tasks. • Learn water system and water service duties including meter reading system and routes, customer service, meter repair and methods in completing required District paperwork. • Learn and assists in the installation of pipelines, services, hydrants, meters and valves; assists in traffic control. • Learn and assists in the maintenance of all District facilities, including wells, pumps, treatment plant, reservoirs, pipelines, buildings and all property owned by the District. • Maintains assigned District vehicle including servicing and periodic safety checks. • Will be required to be on-call at times during the week and weekends, as well as routine rounds. • Perform other related duties assigned, such as keeping work shop organized, clean, and stocked. • Participate in District safety meetings. • Handling of Chemicals • Read and interpret basic maps and blueprints QUALIFICATIONS • Have a valid and clean California Drivers License • The ability to lift more than 75lbs. • Knowledge of general hand and power tools • Oral and written communication skills. • Detailed/organizational skills. • Customer service skills. • The ability to obtain a Water Distribution and Treatment License within a year. Failure to obtain Licenses will result in termination from the district. Starting pay $15.00-$18.00 (Depending on Experience). Hours for this position will be 20-30hrs per week as needed.
