The following sets forth the rules and regulations for the Portage County Hmong Association New Year Dance Competition on September 10-11, 2022, in Stevens Point, WI. Competition Details: • Registration is $100. • All participants must fill out a registration form prior to the start of the first round. • The monetary award for the dancing competition shall be (must have at least 8 teams to get full prize) (HAAPC reserves the right to reduce prize if there are less than 8 teams): o 1st place – $1000.00 USD o 2nd place – $800.00 USD o 3rd place – $600.00 USD • The winner of the dance competition will be announced when all votes have been tallied. The winners will be announced on the final day celebration and will be expected to perform another dance. • Each group has to performance 2 rounds. o 1st round on Saturday. 1st round must be Hmong song o 2nd round on Sunday afternoon and song must be Hmong song. Competition Rules: • Contestants who do not show to perform at their confirmed scheduled performance time maybe disqualified. • Contestants are to be dressed and ready to perform during scheduled time. • All contestants must have their music on cue and ready to play before they go on stage. • Contestants understand that the time, manner and method of judging shall be solely within the discretion of the competition officials and the decision of its judges will be final. There will be no appeal. • Performances must be family oriented equivalent to G rating for public performance. Any participant reflecting or exemplifying indecent clothing, vocals, or gestures will be disqualified. • Participants must obey all on-site backstage rules set forth by the Pre-New Year Committee. • Participants agree to release the Hmong American Association of Portage County, the Pre-New Year Committee, the dancing competition coordinators or any person acting on behalf of the previous aforementioned groups of and liabilities resulting in injuries sustained or illnesses contracted by them when in attendance and or participating in any phase of the competition. • Participants implicitly give their permission to HAAPC, the Pre-New Year Committee to use their photographs and or appearance in videotaping in connection with advertising, news coverage, and promotion of the Pre-Hmong New Year. • Contestants, their family members or associates are forbidden to have any contact with any judges during the contest performance periods. Offering bribes of any nature to a judge by any contestant’s family members or associates are strictly prohibited and will result in the immediate disqualification of the contestant. • Any contestant, family member or associates who argue the decision of the judges will be considered unruly and the contestant will be disqualified from the competition. Should the argument concerning the judged outcome of a final event, and the contestant be awarded a prize that contestant may be stripped of the prize and such prize awarded to another contestant. Decisions of the judges are final. By filling out and submitting this form, we have read and understand all of Hmong American Association of Portage County’s rules and regulations for the Dance Completion.
