Description

Join us Sunday, August 14 to learn how to make your own mala! Malas, also known as yoga beads, prayer beads or japamalas, are necklaces one can use during prayer and meditation. In our workshop, you’ll learn about the mala, how to make one and we’ll be using our freshly made malas to chant Ohm 108 times together! The investment for the workshop is $50 and it includes: -Mala-making kit -Learn the history of malas -Learn how to hold and use the mala for meditation -Learn the significance of the number 108 -Guided meditation and chanting - we’ll chant Ohm 108 times with the mala you just made! -Connection and community with like-minded souls -Light snacks and refreshments The workshop consists of two parts: the first in which we will be making the mala, and the second in which we’ll be meditating and chanting. Throughout the workshop, you’ll be welcome to help yourself to light refreshments. Why malas? Malas are a wonderful mindfulness tool. They help to ground you into your meditation practice and keep you focused and present. Each time you use a mala for meditation, you’re infusing it with that energy. When you make your own mala, you can infuse each bead with your personal prayers and intentions. If you choose to wear your mala regularly, you're literally wearing your prayers and intentions. When: Sunday, August 14, 1-5 p.m Where: The Perceptive Spirit, 2447 W Mound St, Columbus, OH 43204 Cost: $50 You don’t need to bring any additional materials for this workshop. Everything will be provided. If you have any questions, please contact Shayne ([email protected]) or Yaffah ([email protected]).
