Description
Celeste Cox, Chief Executive Officer, Habitat for Humanity of Collin County will discuss their newest alternative housing project, Cotton Groves, an affordable housing community built entirely with re-purposed shipping containers located in McKinney, Texas. The 2.75 acre community will feature an eco-friendly, sustainable development of 35 townhomes, a playground and an amenity center to bring residents together for social opportunities, health clinics, hydroponics gardening, fitness and fun to promote a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle.Donna VanNess, President, Housing Channel, a nonprofit, affordable housing developer will discuss new building models and alternative housing types in an effort to combat rising real estate and construction costs. Gone are the days of the typical single family subdivision with 5,000+ square foot lots, the inventory crisis demands a much more aggressive and scaled approach toward sustainable homeownership development in the increasingly competitive market.WHERE Quail Trail Community Room 4444 Quail Trail Fort Worth, TX 76114 CONTACT [email protected] TICKETS Pay what you can - $20 suggested donation 1 AIA , APA/AICP, & ASLA Continuing Education Credit (pending approval) About Urban Design TalksCDFW Urban Design Talks are monthly chats for the community to learn, converse and grow in all things urban design.
