This is the first offering of the course, Introduction to Rugby Refereeing. This does not replace the World Rugby L1 course. This course is designed so that participants will be able to safely and equitably referee a game of rugby. It will not be a law centered class but rather focus on a practical introduction into game & player management. No prerequisites are required. No equipment necessary. Dress for comfort – recommend running shoes. This course will have active participation and will involve being in close proximity to other people and may include contact so there is some risk if not immunized. No refreshments provided so bring any food or drink you may need. Completion of this class will prepare participants to safely referee a rugby game in case of a regular referee being unavailable. Given the extreme shortage of referees, it may even lead to being assigned to refereeing a game provided the new referee is willing. If participants enjoy refereeing after this course, they are highly encouraged to take a World Rugby L1 course when offered in the area.
