As one of the original 13 states with a rich seafaring history, New Hampshire displays a US war vessel on its flag and serves as the titular home of one of the nation’s oldest and most storied naval shipyards. However, New Hampshire does not fully celebrate this tradition or mark the Navy’s contributions to civic life in the state. In this context, and consistent with the Navy Birthday Commemoration Amplifying Information issued Aug 27, 2019, a volunteer group of New Hampshire community leaders has come together to sponsor an event that will build awareness of the Navy’s history and, with any excess funds raised, support programs for Navy veterans and families in need. Therefore, the New Hampshire Navy Birthday Ball will serve as an event that celebrates the history and traditions of the US Navy, the positive impact of the US Navy and US Navy service members in New Hampshire, the role of New Hampshire and New Hampshirites in the development and continued success of the US Navy. All funds raised in excess of the cost of the event will be donated to Swim with a Mission, to support their programs that benefit Navy veterans and their families.
