Description

Film Synopsis: One in five Americans take commonly prescribed psychiatric drugs on a daily basis. While these drugs can provide effective short-term relief, pharmaceutical companies have hidden -- from both doctors and patients -- their dangers and long-term impact. Billions of dollars are spent annually promoting anti-depressants, anti-anxiety meds, mood stabilizers, etc. The arguments extolling their benefits are often the only ones presented in the mainstream media. The other side of the story is rarely reported, and it is a story of harm done. Reviews: “Medicating Normal dares to challenge prevailing myths about how psychotropic medications work, or fail to, in our ongoing struggle to treat mental illness. It promises to spark a long-overdue national conversation on the growing problem of overprescribing.” -Anna Lembke, MD, Associate Professor, Stanford University Medical Center "A terribly important movie” -Bessel van der Kolk, MD "A film every American with any connection to psychiatric medication urgently needs to see.” -Christopher Lane, Side Effects, Psychology Today Date: Monday, October 3rd, 2022 Location: Teton County Library, Ordway Auditorium Registration: We request that you sign up via Eventbrite, although this is not mandatory Admission: Free to the public (Donations welcome), first come first serve (the auditorium seats 130 people) Refreshments: Finger foods and drinks will be served.
