Description

The fastest way to make a friend is to break bread with them. The fastest way to unite a community is through a common cause. The La Tiendita Dinner Series will do both! This will be a multi-course wine pairing dinner featuring Hassell Cattle Company Wagyu Beef and other incredible local products. To raise funds to support www.joinATLAST.com and La Tiendita, The Jelly Queens will be hosting a series of dinners featuring chef friends from the World Food Championships. The first dinner will be highlighting nineteen-year-old culinary whiz Preston Nguyen, from the El Centro College Culinary Program in Dallas. Preston is the current World Food Champion, and bested 1500 chefs from around the world to take home the $100,000 grand prize at the 2021 World Food Championships. As this is a very unique and special fundraising event, tickets will be limited to 16 total guests. La Tiendita Wine Pairing Dinner tickets will be sold for $100 each. The first dinner will be held August 20, 2022 at 7pm. Located at The Jelly Queens, 305 West Louisiana Street, McKinney, Texas. Stay tuned for the menu! The story of La Tiendita, The Little Store. Imagine a little store at the fork in the road of a Texas town with a vision to embody the ideals above, while inspiring entrepreneurship and leadership in area high school students. La Tiendita, "The Little Store", is the brainchild and heartbeat of Mckinney's favorite community volunteer, Jason Hernandez. Jason is determined to create a wave of goodness for McKinney - and La Tiendita is just the beginning. La Tiendita will provide fresh fruits, vegetables, and a host of healthy products to McKinney's only food desert. In addition, this little oasis will give children a safe place to play, a fun place to learn, the opportunity to run their own lemonade stand and allow them to create and tend to a children's garden. The healthy products will be produced by high school students participating in the ATLAST www.joinatlast.com program (through paid internships). They will learn how to grow and create farm to table products in a preservatory which is being created in conjunction with The Jelly Queens. Their training will include preserving, labeling, marketing, legal requirements, and they will finish their internship with how to operate and manage a small business and nonprofit, all while feeding their community. Additionally, between now and the event, there will be 100 $10 raffle tickets sold for the chance to win a $125 stunning bottle of JBC UNITY Reserve 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Boisset Collection. The winner will be announced at the dinner. You do not have to be present to win. Raffle tickets will be on sale at The Jelly Queens location.
