Description

Conference Theme Scripture: Revelation 2: 2 – 7 (excerpts from the New Living Translation) “I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance…You have patiently suffered for me without quitting…but I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first…turn back to me and do the works you did at first…” Conference Synopsis: We work hard…we practice hard…we serve and sacrifice…but we spend so much time doing the work of the Lord, that we have forgotten the Lord of the work. We cannot get so weighed down with doing STUFF that we forget why we do what we do, and most importantly, Who we’re doing it for. It’s time for a reset. It’s time to re – focus. We need to make the most important thing the MOST IMPORTANT THING. We need to RECALIBRATE. The word CALIBRATE means: • to ascertain the caliber (quality, ability, character, competence) of something • to determine, rectify, or mark the graduations (growth) of something • to standardize (something, such as a measuring instrument) by determining the deviation from a standard so as to ascertain the proper correction factors • to adjust precisely for a particular function • to measure precisely…especially to measure against a standard To RECALIBRATE means that at one time a calibration had been done. But, because of the nature of the work, something has gotten off track; and so a calibration needs to be done again. Now, this is not a bad thing. It takes maturity to know when adjustments need to be made. The issue comes when you know better, but you don’t do better. The purpose of this experience is to provide an opportunity for re – evaluation, re – focus, renewal, and restoration for those of us who labor in the Worship & Fine Arts Ministry.
