Need help looking for a home...

This may seem unusual but I am asking for advice on getting a home. I believe that, for the first time in my long life, I can buy a home. However, as everyone knows, the housing prices are so high in the DC area. I want to stay in the Gaithersburg/Germantown area. I could look a bit farther. I need two bedrooms and two bathrooms. I have a disabled daughter that will be living with me. I am a 100% disabled vet so I need something that is ground floor - if I go the condo route. I don't think I can qualify for anything over $280K and I know that is a low number in this area. But, that is all I can do. My rent has gone up two times over the past two years and I know that a house payment would be lower. Please let me know if you have any ideas or leads. Thanks for reading.
