Description

The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is hosting a summit exploring the topic of creating more welcoming and inclusive cultural institutions. This program is intended for cultural heritage professionals with speakers discussing a variety of topics. The morning features a listening workshop with Kate Livingston followed by a talk from inclusive organizations thought leader, Dina Bailey. Inclusive design experts Corey Timpson and Sina Bahram round out the morning discussing the Inclusive Design Ecosystem. After lunch, the afternoon features inspiring work going on in New Mexico including talks from T. Michael Trimm (he, him, his, Sir), Executive Director of the Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico; Raashan Ahmad, Executive Director of Vital Spaces; and Andrea R. Hanley (Navajo), Chief Curator of the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian. Lunch is provided and the event has ASL (American Sign Language) Interpretation provided by RGC Access. This program is partially funded through a Museums Empowered grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. To emphasize face-to-face presence, this event will be in person and will not be recorded.
