Are you a BIPOC mountain biker interested in honing your riding skills and techniques? Maybe you love to bike and have never mountain biked before but want to give it a go! If so, consider registering for our BIPOC-inclusive mountain bike skills clinic. OGE is excited to offer this mountain bike skills clinic led by BIPOC instructors, our goal is to create a space for BIPOC riders to feel welcome to learn and build a sense of community at the same time.
This clinic will be held at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center in Williston.
Join us for a 1.5 - 2 hour session learning the foundations of mountain bike handling. From optimal body position to proper braking, to lifting your front wheel, you’ll learn how to gain control in any situation to build confidence, safety, and fun on your bike.
The class will begin with field instruction followed by a ride to put your new skills to use. No previous mountain biking experience is necessary but participants should be comfortable riding a bicycle.
To participate in the class you will need:
1) A mountain bike in full working order. If you have concerns, bring your bike to our service department and we’ll inspect it for free! We also have mountain bikes available for rent.
2) A helmet
3) Flat pedals
4) Close-toed shoes
5) Water/snacks
We want to highlight that these clinics will be a supportive environment and operate using the principles of “challenge by choice”.
Please note this space is not a BIPOC affinity space though the purpose of the event is to create a welcoming space for BIPOC to learn in a supportive environment and build community.
We have room for eight students so, please RSVP to reserve your spot! See you on the trail!
