Back hoe mechanic needed

I have a 1996 John Deere 310d backhoe. I just bought it a few months ago and was working great on a foundation until last week. Now the unit will not go into reverse. And only sporadically move forward. I'm not a mechanic just a home builder. I would like for someone to come out and diagnose. Then we'll order the parts and repair. It's been on the job site for a little while now and the homeowner is getting impatient so we need to get this taken care of as soon as possible.
