We are proud to announce the completion and grand opening of the Meridian-Amikas Emergency Sleeping Cabin Village in El Cajon, California. Please join Amikas, a non-profit organization, and Meridian Baptist Church, at our official ribbon cutting ceremony for the new village.
It is time to celebrate, donate, and learn how emergency sleeping cabins can create new transitional housing opportunities for those in need of shelter, and help them find the services they need. Learn about the partnership of organizations that work together to make this idea a reality. And meet the community of people who brought this idea to life!
Soon the village will be home to a segment of the City's most vulnerable population - women and women with children who are at risk of homelessness. This may be the general public's last chance to tour the entire village. Once residents occupy the cabins they will no longer be open to the public.
Presentations will be made by Amikas' President, Shanna Welsh-Levin, Meridian's Pastor, Rev. Rolland Slade, El Cajon City Council Member Steve Goble, and more! We will be raising funds for the maintenance and continuing improvements to the site, for the program and services to the occupants, and for future sleeping cabin villages.
