Description

LDA of Michigan presents Learning to Thrive in Education Today, a day and a half conference providing educators, professionals, and parents with research-based resources and training they need to advance the well-being of students and adults with learning disabilities as well as themselves. Tuesday, October 25 will start off with keynote speaker Rebecca Tolson, Ph.D. the Vice President of Literacy Initiatives at Neuhaus Education Center. Dr. Tolson will provide a clear description of the science of reading, the reading brain, Structured Literacy, and the MTSS delivery model. Wednesday, October 26 will start off with keynote speaker Rebekah Schipper, Executive Director of Opportunity Thrive who will share insights and strategies for moving from self-care to we-care. Creating school communities where all feel safe and connected is a communal effort and is vital for combatting the wave of stressors and burnout prevalent in education today. Though general sessions end at noon on Wednesday, we will be offering special focus sessions on Wednesday afternoon. One will be hosted by our Healthy Children Project. Stay tuned for more details as they are finalized! Registration Notes: Register for both days or only one! LDA MI members save on registration! Not a member?
