We don’t often hear much about short sales as a strategy when the economy is in good shape and it’s a seller’s market. However, the current uncertainty in our economy with unabated inflation, rising interest rates, and the possibility of a recession, can adversely impact property valuations and the spending power of household incomes. Some of those issues were present in the last economic crisis and RE investors knowledgeable about short sales were able to greatly benefit. Since 2012, a lot of people have entered into the world of real estate investing. That means many real estate investors have not been through a down cycle in the economy. They are not familiar with how to successfully profit from short sales. During the 1990’s California recession John became a licensed real estate broker. John worked in various facets of the foreclosure market specializing in short sales negotiating with banks, attorneys, and other lien holders. During this time John was a board member with one of San Diego County's largest non-profit corporations, the San Diego Community Housing Corporation and negotiated an REO bulk purchase. John moved back to Texas after the 2008 financial crisis. John and his team have acquired and negotiated approximately 350 short sales and loan modifications.
