We are an outdoor adventure company and are looking for someone to be a Horseman/Wrangler/Handyman for both our small ranch and our adventure company. We have small ranch... Desert Wolf Ranch... in New River, AZ. Duties on the ranch would entail care of 4 quarter horses, helping with feeding, grooming, corral cleaning, maintenance, exercise, training, etc. as well an loading and trailering horses to our off-road tour location... the RoadRunner Restaurant and Saloon. We utilize our horses in marketing and branding our company... they interact with our off-road tour guests and create that "Old West" atmosphere. Our guests are out of town tourists and love the Old West atmosphere. So, you would also be riding the horses and interacting with guests. Must be comfortable with riding on trails and in an arena to keep our horses fit and well trained. In addition, you would be working in our tour operation... Desert Wolf Tours... in Anthem and New River. This might include assisting on off-road tours, donning our Wolf Mascot costume and entertaining guests at our tour departure location. Skills Required: Horsemanship - being able to care for, ride and train horses is a must. Please don't apply if you don't have verifiable horse experience. (We have vets and farriers, so you don't have to be those!) Reliable - You need to show up to work, listen to what you are asked to do and finish what you start. Physically fit - this is a strenuous job and you need to be able to perform physical duties in all kinds of weather. Good driving record - It's a non-starter if we can't get you on our vehicle insurance. And, we need to know that you can transport our horses in a safe manner. Walk the walk - There are a lot of talkers out there. But, a horse can smell BS a mile away. If our horses don't trust you, we won't either. Be able to pass a background check - part of our operation is firearms adventures. There may be times when you are asked to handle a firearm (like carry it somewhere for the instructor). Felons can't touch a firearms. So, if you can't buy a firearms, you won't be able to pass the background check. Maintenance skills - if you are all thumbs, this isn't the place for you. We have lots of stuff that needs regular maintenance. Welding skills are a plus. Mechanic skills are a plus. Common sense in a MUST! Be a Team Player - Everyone says they are a team player. But, again, you have to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. We have a lot of different things going on at any given time. And, we are in the "entertainment industry". The show must go on. So, we don't get hung up on job titles. We work together and do whatever it takes to deliver 5 STAR PLUS experiences for our guests... rain or shine. And, many days, you will be working directly with/for the owners of the company. Midwest Work Ethic... if you don't know what "Midwest Work Ethic" means, you probably don't have it. Good Attitude - You won't be much help if nobody wants to be around you. Be able to drive trucks - We have pickup trucks and 5 ton trucks (our water truck). Be able to operate a 30 horse diesel tractor - Using it sure is easier than using a shovel and rake all the time! Be able to pull trailers - We have horse trailers and carhaulers. Be a problem solvers - No task goes like it's planned. Can you adapt, solve the problem and get the job done? Or, do you use the "road bump" as an excuse as to why you couldn't complete the job? We need people who can get the job done because nobody has time to babysit. Drug Free - You'll have random drug tests. Love Horses and Love the West - those are two things that you either have or you don't. If this sounds like something you'd love doing, let's talk.
