GENERAL OFFICE AND CLERICAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS U. S. Citizen 18 Years of Age Registered Voter In the State of Nevada – (at time of hire or upon first day of appointment) Non Felon Not related to any candidate on the ballot All necessary background checks completed before starting position in our office. JOB DESCRIPTION Registration of citizens to vote. Assisting citizens with change of address, confidential voter requests. Answering questions about election related issues either by telephone or front counter with accuracy. Assisting with opening and distribution of mail and voter registration applications. Entering voter registration applications and change of address notifications accurately into the database. Scanning of voter registration applications. Assisting the Correspondence Clerk with letters and address notification cards. Proofing PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to work long hours for several days Ability to work overtime as needed Ability to sit for long periods of time Ability to lift from 25 to 30 pounds Must have a “front office” appearance TIME REQUIREMENTS Typical work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Schedule will require some evening, night, early morning and possible weekend work during high activity periods; with some days requiring 12 or more hours on the job INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS Ability to maintain good working relationships with all fellow full-time and temporary workers. Ability to handle anxious, or disable or irate customers in a diplomatic and professional manner both in person and over the telephone in often intense situations, while maintaining a positive attitude. Pleasant telephone demeanor. Must enjoy working with the public. Must be able to work in a crowded and sometimes loud environment. ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment use, including Word and Excel. Ability to perform clerical work to include: Data entry with some degree of speed but strong emphasis on accuracy. Strong editing and spelling skills. Ability to follow office procedures and directives given both orally and written. Ability to take direction from permanent staff lead workers and managers. Ability to do routine, tedious and repetitive tasks over long periods while maintaining concentration. Ability to complete assigned tasks within allotted time periods. Ability to learn several different tasks and assignments over a short period of time. Must be able to multi-task. POSITION WILL REQUIRE INDIVIDUAL TO BE FLEXIBLE REGARDING WILLINGNESS TO ACCEPT NEW AND DIFFERENT TASKS AS NEEDED Overtime required in May/June and October/November Periodically hiring individuals as workload increases May start as early as January 2022 and stay on until December 2022
